Holiday Greetings From Formato Brothers!
We hope you have recovered from a Happy Thanksgiving and are well into the spirit of Christmas. What a spectacular time of the year for enjoying not only the hustle and bustle of the season, but also the planning & playing with the kids, the dogs, the family. Pause once in awhile during all that hustling and bustling to invigorate yourself with a cup of LavAzza Espresso Coffee and De Franco’s Coffee filled candies. Many online choices await you.
Our current holiday promotion is still in effect until 12/31/10. When you spend $ 50.00 or more online you’ll receive a package of Amaretti cookies with our compliments. Details are found on our Home page.
We were in New York City for a few days and got a good dose of very cold weather. We were grateful for a snow-less weekend. It’s been a few years since Carl and I were there to see the tree at Rockefeller Center and enjoy Broadway. It was very very very cold and very very windy but that’s what December in New York is all about. We visited with friends, saw several Broadway shows, but most importantly, sought out Italian food. Restaurant after restaurant in Little Italy was beautifully decorated, outside and inside.
We were referred to Da Nicos’s for lunch (thx, Brad) and found the service and food exceptional there. Mulberry Street is the place to be for delicious home made pasta and sauce. Delicioso! Some other favorites include La Ravista in the theatre district, Stage Deli or Carnegie Deli and Ray’s Pizza (grab a piece of the pie or stay for more). Or just get a cannoli on the way to or from one of your other stops there.
We spent a day admiring the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. We found records of both sets of our Formato family grandparents who came over from Italy just after the turn of the last century. Perhaps you’ve been there as well.
This is the time of the year that the Formato families find reasons to celebrate with friends a little more than at other times. Sharing our Italian foods is a great way to celebrate the season. Many of the foods we enjoy are incorporated as part of our “Shipping Included Specials” we offer on our website. We’re hoping you enjoy them and the cost savings we’ve put into them. Several products allow you to celebrate the season with a tasty gift for yourself or your friends. One example is our Sweets for the Sweet combo. Yummy!
Because of the cold weather in many parts of the country we are now able to send many of the cured meat products via regular ground shipping. Check out our “Meat” section for details.
And, don’t forget our referral program: when a friend or relative places an order after your referral to us, include your name & theirs so that both of you will receive one of our Formato Brothers jar products. We now have Hot Muffuletta Olive Salad and Hot Eggplant Salad for sale, so If you like something spicy consider requesting one of those.
And here’s a note from Carl: Don’t forget a recipe!!!! Here’s one that’s been in the family for a very long time:
It’s very easy to make, just open jars, drain or don’t drain, stir, serve. You can make it a couple days ahead of time and keep refrigerated and covered until serving time. It’s great for an appetizer or with your meal.
